We practice communion
We choose belonging over exclusion, relationship over isolation, love over fear.
We exist so that every person entrusted to our care may be deeply known, genuinely loved, invited into meaningful contribution, and continually formed throughout adulthood.
This conviction is the foundation of Brave Hearts. No diagnosis, disability, age, circumstance, or season of life diminishes the value of a person or limits their capacity for belonging, contribution, or continued growth.
Brave Hearts receives its understanding of dignity, community, vocation, service, and human flourishing from the Catholic Christian tradition. Prayer, gratitude, works of mercy, service, and opportunities for spiritual formation are woven naturally into the life of the community — offered in a spirit of invitation and hospitality, with respect for the conscience, faith tradition, and religious freedom of each member and family. Our Catholic identity is never a condition of a person’s worth or belonging.
We choose belonging over exclusion, relationship over isolation, love over fear.
We never do for another what they are capable of doing with appropriate encouragement and support.
Growth belongs to every season of life. No one within Brave Hearts is ever finished becoming.
Brave Hearts is intentionally designed for adults ages 22–49 who can take part in a community-based day program with a meaningful level of independence.
Able to use the restroom without hands-on toileting assistance.
Able to communicate verbally and express basic needs.
Able to understand and follow basic directions in a group setting.
Able to participate safely in routine daily activities.
We know every person is unique. Pre-registration begins a conversation; it does not guarantee enrollment. Before membership is offered, we’ll talk with each prospective member and family to make sure Brave Hearts is a good fit for the individual and for the community.
