A meaningful place to go. Five days a week.

Brave Hearts Kingsport is a Catholic-inspired adult day community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have finished school and are ready for a meaningful next chapter. Members will have a dependable place to belong, build friendships, learn, create, stay active, serve, and enjoy life together — whether they are just transitioning out of school or are well into adulthood.

Who we are

When school ends, belonging, growth, and purpose shouldn’t end with it.

Brave Hearts is designed to provide a consistent weekday community after the school years are over. Members can enjoy the rhythm, relationships, activities, growth, and sense of purpose that a great school community once provided — in an environment created for adult life.

01

A weekday rhythm

Members have a consistent place to go, people who know them, and meaningful ways to spend their day.

02

Purposeful days

Days will include life skills, creativity, wellness, service, recreation, personal growth, community engagement, and plenty of opportunities for friendship and fun.

03

For every season of adulthood

Brave Hearts can be a next step after school and a welcoming community for adults well beyond their twenties too. Our Catholic values affirm the dignity and gifts of every person, while welcoming people of all backgrounds.

“Will this help people become more fully alive?” — the enduring question guiding everything we do.
Who we are designed to serve

A community where each member can participate safely and with growing independence.

Brave Hearts is intentionally designed for adults ages 22–49 who can take part in a community-based day program with a meaningful level of independence. We want every member to be in an environment where they can be successful, engaged, and supported with dignity.

At this stage, prospective members should be able to:

Use the restroom independently, without hands-on toileting assistance.
Communicate verbally and express basic needs to others.
Understand and follow basic directions in a group and community setting.
Have the functional motor control needed to participate safely in routine daily activities.

We know every person is unique. Pre-registration begins a conversation; it does not guarantee enrollment. Before membership is offered, we’ll talk with each prospective member and family to make sure Brave Hearts is a good fit for the individual and for the community.
